I will freeze my ears off to spite my mother

A Russian saying teaches: „Назло маме уши отморозить“, and that means: I will freeze my ears off to spite my mother. An equivalent in American English would be: „Cut off your nose to spite your face.“

What is meant by this is: Some people harm themselves because they think it will annoy an authority figure. In reality, they themselves – and only they themselves – are the ones who suffer from such destructiveness.

A practical application of this wisdom regarding extraordinarily foolish behavior was experienced this week!

US President Trump and his Health Secretary Kennedy warned Americans (and thus: the world population) this week against taking the US medication Tylenol during pregnancy. According to the US government, it could lead to autism in the baby. (whitehouse.gov, September)

With increased autism risk

The active ingredient in Tylenol is acetaminophen, and we know it as paracetamol (see Wikipedia).

In fact, even the manufacturer of Tylenol itself has warned against its use by pregnant women in the past (@tylenol, 15.02.2017; archived).

And there are indeed studies that link the use of Tylenol during pregnancy with an increased risk of autism for the child, such as from the reputable Johns Hopkins University (hub.jhu.edu, 05.11.2019): „Taking Tylenol during pregnancy associated with elevated risks for autism, ADHD.“

After Trump warned about the active ingredient, the usual anti-Trump media immediately switched to appeasement, and this happened worldwide. In Germany, for example, the German state broadcaster quickly wrote: „Trump gives unsubstantiated health recommendations“ (tagesschau.de, 23.09.2025). (That it is generally unsubstantiated is a blatant lie, as the state broadcaster soon indirectly admitted when it described the research situation as „inconsistent“ tagesschau.de, 23.09.2025.)

And how do so-called Liberals (the involuntary sarcastic self-designation of the American left) react to Trump’s warning?

Well, some of them react as we would unfortunately expect: irrationally.

On social media, shockingly many pregnant women with large baby bumps post videos of themselves demonstratively taking Tylenol – as a political protest against Trump (example: @GustavsonElena, 24.09.2025).

There is even an (unconfirmed, but not entirely unbelievable) report about a pregnant woman around 24 weeks who allegedly took an overdose of the medication as a protest against Trump’s warning and is now supposedly dying with liver damage (@WallStreetApes, 31.03.2025).

Ah, if only it were just a case of people who let themselves „freeze their ears off“ to supposedly annoy the great „Father Trump.“

These mothers are willing to potentially harm the unborn life because they have become deluded into thinking that this action might magically inflict moral damage on Trump.

Those who might kill us

We have seen it in the reactions to the murder of Charlie Kirk, we see it in the tolerance-drunk in Europe, and we see it again in these new cases: these people who call themselves „Leftists,“ „Liberals,“ and so on are actually victims of a brainwashing that prioritizes ideology over human life.

Neither the left nor we believe that life is the highest value in absolutely all situations, but we differ diametrically in when and which lives we are willing to sacrifice.

They kill unborn lives when a child does not fit into their weekend entertainment or career plans. They sacrifice their daughters to be able to call themselves „tolerant.“ They even risk their own lives and the life of their baby to express their propaganda-induced hatred towards the US president.

We on the other hand do not „sacrifice“ human lives. We are at most willing to risk our lives when it serves the well-being of other people. And those who might kill us – or celebrate our death – are always those who call themselves „good,“ „left,“ and „moral.“

These pregnant women, who let themselves – and their baby! – „freeze their ears off to annoy their mother,“ illustrate once again the insurmountable difference between their worldview and ours.

Can there be a future together with people with whom no future is possible because they do not want a future?
