Idea for horror-scifi plot: A world where all the institutions that are supposed to protect you would suddenly turn evil and try to DESTROY society and kill you. Uff, what a nightmare that would be!

Imagine you’re having a really bad nightmare. In your dream you have to leave the city, now. Your city is becoming uninhabitable.

You somehow rush to the airport. Arriving at the airport, it is chaos. Panic. Several planes that just left have crashed.

In your dream you understand, as one does in dreams, that whoever runs the planes is actively crashing them.

The railway station, it’s the same. Trains have derailed shortly after leaving, they didn’t get far.

You try to get a taxi or a car, but the highways are clogged after some severe accidents. You realize that cars can be remote controlled now, in this nightmare of yours. And someone seems to be crashing people’s cars too.

That is when you wake up.

“Oh, great,” you think, “at least I woke up from this nightmare!” What a terrifying dream! What was that all about? Some thought virus was taking over all the, let’s say: institutions, that are meant to bring people from here to there!

You sure are glad that it was only a dream, albeit a scary one.

Just imagine if all the real-life institutions betrayed us on such grand a scale. Imagine some evil thought virus had befallen governments, leading nations to national suicide. Imagine if charities were working to eradicate the societies they worked in, not alleviating but causing pain. Imagine if universities were actively destroying the minds of the next generation instead of building and educating. Imagine if journalists lied and courts protected the criminals. Imagine if the Holy … I’ll stop here.

You get the point.

In that dream, when all institutions of transport have been corrupted, have become deadly, what do you do?

Maybe you should walk. Let’s hope you still are able to walk on your own two feet. They don’t like people walking on their own two feet, you should rather trust the experts. They will call you a racist nazi rightwinger for walking on your own two feet.

Anyway, where do you go?

Maybe, while there still is a little time left, choose a mountain, walk up, and have one last look.
