I am not shocked. Not anymore. Shock would also be the wrong word for my current state, even though what preceded it thoroughly frightened me.
We are, as a wise mind wrote these days, facing nothing less than a civilizational struggle. And I too am changed. I am a different person than I was just a few weeks ago. Again a different one.
Let me explain! Let me catch my breath, elaborate a bit, and repeat.
„We live in a different world than just a month ago,“ I wrote in the essay „You are already at the front“. I am different because the world is different – and because I acknowledge the world’s difference.
The trigger for this change is – it has been reported often enough by now – the murder of Charlie Kirk, but above all the cold, inhumane, outright evil reactions of those who like to call themselves „the good ones.“ A trench lies between us, and no bridge can be built over this trench. There can be no compromise with people who defend the murder of individuals simply for daring to engage in debate.
Many private conversations in recent days have revolved around this new and global clarity. It also became clear: Charlie Kirk wanted to talk to the left, and for that, a leftist shot him, and therefore millions of leftists worldwide rejoice over his murder. This is why journalists in Germany also invent vile lies to justify his murder.
No, there is no talking to them. For them, you are a „fascist,“ and by „fascist,“ they mean: „One who can be killed – and should be.“
They do not want to kill you because you are truly a „fascist“ or a „Nazi“ – they call you a „fascist“ or a „Nazi“ to justify killing you. When state media or publications like Der Spiegel attack Charlie Kirk as a „right-wing extremist,“ the audience hears that his murder was morally justified.
As all this became clear to me, I also became aware: If the world is different and if you are different, then it would also be nonsensical for the individual to continue as before. But what consequence should I draw?
I have found that some of my readers do not speak or read German at all. They read these texts, for example, via Google Translate. I myself repeatedly forward essay links to conversation partners that are actually links to the automatically translated version.
At the same time, I found that translations by artificial intelligence are now so good that the result is also worth reading. I discover humor and rhythm that I placed in German in the computer-translated version.
My consequence from the changed situation was to finally give in to the wish of both the author and readers and to offer my essays in multiple languages through AI translation.
Of course, I will not just have them translated. Of course, it is already present in my mind while writing that I am now in conversation with readers beyond our German therapy group.
Charlie Kirk wanted to engage with as many people as possible. I want to look beyond the edge of the German language with the help of artificial intelligence.
I admire Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, who publicly stated (see for example eu.usatoday.com, 23.09.2025) to forgive her husband’s murderer. I also understand those who see it very differently.
Jochen Bittner summarizes the developments of recent weeks as follows:
The culture war was yesterday, now the civilizational struggle begins.
The return to Christianity as the root of the West should
1. push back Islam as well as
2. the secular religion of wokeness and
3. bring the nation back to the center of all political action, just as the Old Testament envisioned: as a self-determined community of like-minded individuals. (@JochenBittner, 22.09.2025)
Bittner does not take a stance with this description. He simply describes. I agree with him, but I know where I want to position myself in the civilizational struggle.
And my humble contribution should be that my texts will now also speak in other languages. What is your contribution?
